When my testing was completed, the technologist pointed out that I had a fairly large polyp detected in my gallbladder. I was given a copy of the ultrasound images to take to my doctor. "When the screening procedure became available,  we made an appointment and had it done since we had often wondered about the health of our arteries. Total time was about thirty minutes. The staff were courteous and explained the procedures to us. They also did a screening of our thyroid gland. The technologist  discovered a small nodule on my thyroid and suggested that further testing was necessary. The results came in the mail about ten days later. We shared these results with our doctor. A biopsy on the thyroid showed that the growth was benign. We have peace of mind that our arteries and thyroid are fine. This motivates us to eat healthy foods and maintain an active life style. Our doctor has suggested that we do a repeat screening possibly in two years to see if there are any changes."

"I attended a Mobile Life Screening Clinic two years ago because stroke runs in my family. While my sister was visiting from BC that summer I suggested that it may be wise for her to go as well, which she did. The technologist found two nodules on the left side of her thyroid and told her to see her doctor as soon as she returned home. She did that and had a biopsy done which told her these nodules were malignant so she had surgery to remove the left side of her thyroid. Last year I attended a Mobile Life Screening  again and was told I had a nodule on my thyroid.  When I informed my doctor, she had an ultrasound done and I am having a follow up one in June. During the carotid artery screening, the technician incidentally found a 2.5 cm nodule on my right thyroid gland. Back in BC, I followed up with my doctor, had a thyroid biopsy and the specialist's recommendation was to remove the right lobe of the thyroid. In February 2009 I had the operation at a local hospital and it was successful. The pathology later had shown that the nodule was benign. I guess I was lucky.
