How long does the procedure take?

A renal ultrasound takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.

Is there any preparation required prior to the exam?

We would prefer you not eat anything 4 hours prior to the exam in order to minimize the amount of gas in your abdomen. You should have a full bladder for the exam.

Who will interpret my renal screening results?

Your study will be interpreted by a Board Certified Radiologist.

Why should I have a renal ultrasound screening done?

You may want a renal ultrasound if you feel you are having problems with your kidneys or bladder. Some typical reasons for having a renal ultrasound are a suspected kidney stone, cyst, mass, or other obstruction in the kidney or bladder.
